Southern Illinois Hospital Services is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Technician II responsible for maintaining essential patient care equipment. This role requires a strong technical background and relevant certifications. The technician will manage equipment installation, repairs, and play a key role in ensuring safety and compliance in a health-focused environment.

Position Summary
• The Biomedical Technician (BMET) is responsible for installing and maintaining patient monitors, ventilators, ultrasound equipment, x-ray machines and other patient care equipment throughout the Southern Illinois Hospital System. Due to the nature of work in supporting critical lifesaving equipment, technicians are required to fulfill on-call shifts through a rotational schedule as necessary.
Education
• AAS degree in Biomedical Technology
• Equivalent military training
• AAMI Apprenticeship certificate of completion
• CBET, CRES or CLES certified
Licenses and Certification
• CBET, CRES or CISS preferred

Role Specific Responsibilities
• BMET I: Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on various biomedical and other electronic equipment with most responsibilities performed under direction supervision.
• Cleaning and adjusting medical equipment
• Testing equipment parts to determine what needs repair or replacement.,
• Demonstrating biomedical equipment and teaching others how to use it within the scope of their skill set.
• Providing technical information on how to operate medical equipment within the scope of their skill set.
• Replacing medical equipment when necessary
• Using computers, software and electronic tools to repair medical equipment
• Updating skills through medical journals, education and professional networks.
• Keeping a healthy and safe work environment through safety tests, code compliance.
• Keeping patient information confidential.
• BMET II: Performs in addition to responsibilities of a Level I BMET Tech with moderate supervision or oversight of work completed.
• Installing, maintaining and repairing medical equipment
• Testing and calibrating equipment parts to determine what needs repair or replacement.,
• Training others
• BMET III: Performs in addition to responsibilities of a Level I & II BMET Tech independently while maintaining and reducing cost of at least one major service line or device type.
• Preparing reports by analyzing and collecting data and trends.
• Provide recommendations for the necessity of service contracts based on collected data
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
