Job summary

Adventist HealthCare's White Oak Medical Center seeks a Biomedical Engineering Technician to perform PA inspections, maintenance, ESI, and OVP on clinical equipment. The role installs, repairs, calibrates devices, and reports on repair status while maintaining data integrity.

The ideal candidate has an AS in Electronics or Mechanical Principles and 2+ years of biomedical technician experience with strong communication skills and Windows proficiency. Full-time, on-site schedule.

  • Proficient to independently perform repairs and planned maintenance on clinical equipment.
  • 2 years experience as Biomedical Technician; hospital experience preferred.
  • Effective technical communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PA inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and OVP on general biomedical equipment.
  • Repair, install, and calibrate general biomedical equipment.
  • Inform supervisors of repair status, inspections, and equipment concerns.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient and physician data in reports.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians for service delivery.
  • Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education.
  • Assist with data submissions to ACC and STS.
  • Maintain and update the equipment database (inventory, PA schedules, nomenclature, service history).
  • Adhere to MEMP and regulatory compliances and policies.
  • Perform Incoming Inspections to inventory medical devices including rental/loaner equipment.

Job description

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire a Biomedical Engineering Technician who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Biomedical Engineering Technician, you will:
  • Perform performance assurance (PA) inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on general biomedical equipment
  • Repair, install, and calibrate general biomedical equipment
  • Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns
  • Ensure confidentiality of all patient and physician related data contained in the reporting process
  • Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery
  • Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education
  • Participate in data submission to the ACC and STS
  • Assist with Service Operations Special Projects as assigned
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include the inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, nomenclature, and service history
  • Adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), including all regulatory agency compliances and other applicable policies and procedures
  • Perform Incoming Inspections (II) to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial and evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment in addition to permanently assigned equipment inventory
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database to include inventory, performance assurance (PA) schedules, nomenclature, and service history
  • Make recommendations regarding inventory
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • A.S. in Electronics, Mechanical Principles or equivalent formal technical training
  • Proficiency to independently perform repairs and planned maintenance on a variety of clinical equipment.
  • 2 years experience as Biomedical Technician, hospital experience preferred.
  • Effective technical communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and also in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient in PC skills in a MS Windows environment. (e-mail, work order processing, procurement, etc.)
Work Schedule:

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours per Week: 40 hrs/week

Typical Daily Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am-4:00 pm

Shift Type: Day Shift

Weekend Requirements: Required working approximately one weekend per month.

Holiday Requirements: Required/On-call/Follow company holiday calendar

Shift Differential Eligible: Yes

Pay Range: $25.63 - $35.89 If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
