Biomedical Engineering Technician - Clinical Engineering Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Join us at Michigan Medicine as a Biomedical Engineering Technician - Clinical Engineering Diagnostic Imaging Specialist.

Position Details

This role involves repairing, installing, maintaining, calibrating, and inspecting diagnostic imaging equipment. The technician will also perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing on diagnostic imaging equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair diagnostic imaging systems, including calibration and inspection.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing.
  • Document all actions and test results per department policy.
  • Travel to other Michigan Medicine facilities as needed.
  • Participate in rounds and on-call rotations.
  • Assist and instruct user departments on equipment use.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with HIPAA, TJC, CMS, and department policies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent military training.
  • At least 8 years of experience in biomedical equipment repair/support, or relevant courses with a minimum of 4 years in diagnostic imaging systems.
  • Knowledge of electronic theory, radiology technology, safety precautions, mechanical systems, networking, and ability to analyze and test equipment.
  • Experience with modalities like CT, NUC Med, PET, Ultrasound, and X-Ray.
Work Schedule & Conditions
  • Sunday - Wednesday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with on-call after 1 year.
  • Hybrid or remote work options available at department discretion.
  • Position covered by union agreement and subject to background screening and drug testing.
