Job summary

TRIMEDX offers a 24-month Biomedical Engineering Apprenticeship program in partnership with AAMI and the Department of Labor to provide hands-on training in healthcare technology management. Apprentices will shadow clinical experts, receive academic instruction, and participate in web-based training, seminars, and in-person sessions to build a comprehensive skillset.

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills and ability to learn proprietary software.
  • Basic mechanical ability and use of common hand-tools.
  • Ability to extract information from technical publications and drawings.
  • Intermediate organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Gain on-the-job training by shadowing clinical leaders and biomedical engineers.
  • Develop and apply key client-relationship skills.
  • Understand the typical day of an engineer in a hospital environment.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Learn to balance workload, document repairs and maintenance, manage vendors, calibrate equipment, and troubleshoot.

Job description

The TRIMEDX Biomedical Engineering Apprenticeship program, in partnership with AAMI and the Department of Labor, is a 24‑month on‑the‑job training and academic program focused on healthcare technology management. Participants will shadow experienced clinical experts and receive academic instruction from an accredited educational institution, supplemented by web‑based training, industry seminars, and in‑person sessions to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

Responsibilities
  • Gain on‑the‑job training by shadowing experienced clinical leaders, biomedical technicians, lab technologists, and imaging engineers under close supervision.
  • Develop and apply key client‑relationship skills.
  • Understand the typical day of an engineer and how to work in a hospital environment.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Learn to balance workload, document repairs and preventive maintenance, vendor management, calibrate equipment, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Train on preventive maintenance procedures, electrical safety, and equipment repair techniques.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures, inventory validation, and work alongside experienced technicians in a real‑time service environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Valid driver’s license required; variable travel may require personal vehicle use depending on primary site or region.
Education And Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must pass pre‑employment screening, including a limited background check and substance‑use screening.
