Qualifications

Summary: Biomedical service technician needed to install, service, maintain and repair biomedical systems and equipment. Emphasis on deployable medical equipment, i.e., laboratory, clinical, dental, therapeutic, pneumatic, hydraulic, general, surgical, diagnostic and treatment equipment at the module or circuit board level. Maintain, repair and install equipment of the following types: mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, controlling, monitoring and recording.

Duties & Requirements:

  1. Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, align, and calibrate medical equipment.
  2. Able to work with steam & water systems, soldering, plumbing, and welding.
  3. Able to read circuit diagrams and wiring schematics, working knowledge of electrical systems.
  4. Supervise and conduct preventive maintenance programs.
  5. Manage repair parts, maintain inventories, order replacement parts and equipment.
  6. Render technical advice and assistance as required.
  7. Provide customers and end users with product and technical support.
  8. Provide technical service/mechanical troubleshooting of equipment.
  9. Accurately document work conducted, and log times and materials for services.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. Ability to work with and communicate with technical experts, healthcare professionals/managers, and OEM representatives.
  2. Willingness to travel to perform on-site repairs, occasional overnight/multiday visits possible.
  3. Self-directed and able to exercise sound judgment and problem solving with minimal guidance, oversight or direct management.
  4. Ability to promptly respond to customer inquiries and needs, both on-the-job and remotely.
  5. Communicate with customers to help them understand how to use, maintain and troubleshoot their products and devices properly.
  6. Complete, maintain, and process pertinent paperwork and records.
  7. Solve problems, document procedures and formulate repair plans and maintenance strategies.
  8. Operate, control and maintain various biomedical test and calibration equipment.

Education and Experience:

  1. Certificate(s) from trade/technical school or similar programs (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, biomedical, etc.).
  2. 3-4 years of work experience in biomedical/home health care/clinical/laboratory/dental technical fields preferred.
  3. CBET, CABT, CISS-MH and/or any other biomedical device repair and service certifications preferred.
  4. Steris/Getinge/Belimed Sterilizer experience a plus.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current driver's license valid for the state of residence is required. CBET, CABT, CISS-MH and/or any other biomedical device repair and service certifications preferred.

Specific Work-in-Focus Concentrations: Any experience servicing, repairing, maintaining, installing or otherwise performing work on industrial grade steam sterilization or bulk washer systems is preferred.

Company Vehicle, Company tools and equipment, Company Computer and field tablet, $50/month cell phone stipend for company calls, Initial on-the-job training period of no less than 6 weeks to be provided by the hiring company. Employees will be fully salaried during this training period. Company paid training opportunities, certification classes, testing and recertification dues.
