Banners Health is seeking a Biomed Technician II to provide implementation, service, and support for medical equipment.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for installing, repairing, calibrating, performing preventative maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and performance verification for most medical equipment, traveling among multiple sites as required.
Core Functions
- Installs, repairs, and calibrates clinical equipment at a component level; inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Performs scheduled/preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and quality assurance on assigned medical equipment in a timely manner.
- Repairs patient care equipment, medical communications equipment, and PCs to board/module level, using electronics theory and organizational skills; reads schematics, troubleshoots equipment, and monitors work of outside contractors.
- Provides customer relations and resolves equipment service problems, coordinating and scheduling service to restore clinical capability promptly.
- Documents all work performed, maintains parts inventory, and assists manager in preparing a library of technical literature.
- Assists with equipment installations and project work involving patient care, medical communications technology, and clinical application networks.
- Trains field technicians with less expertise in preventative maintenance and repair.
- Handles service responsibility across multiple facilities; works with internal and external customers (physicians, nurses, other hospital personnel, veterinary clinics, surgery centers, walk‑in customers).
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in electronics or related field, or equivalent training.
- Minimum two years of related experience with specialty equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC electronics, power supplies, electro/mechanics, hydraulics/pneumatics, medical terminology, basic physiology, PC repair, and Windows and network operating systems.
