Job Description

Biomed Equipment Tech I

Under relatively close supervision, repairs, calibrates and maintains basic clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments and systems. Inspects, installs and provides preventive maintenance of general clinical equipment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Possesses basic understanding and skills related to general electromechanical systems and devices.
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Ability to utilize general applications such as e-mail, spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and effectively communicate
  • Ability to work safely with hand tools and specialized test equipment.
  • Ability to learn from others on the job and can teach basic skills to new hires or interns.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
  • Academic work or military training with emphasis in the following disciplines: mathematics, anatomy, physiology, biology, physics, chemistry, electronic theory, medical terminology, English, computer and networking peripherals, and professional skills.
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • CABT or CBET certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • Six months experience working in a inpatient hospital or health care facility preferred.

Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
  • Able to stand, climb, stoop, bend frequently; positions require considerable physical activity.

  • Able to use proper body mechanics to lift supplies and equipment and push carts and dollies weighing up to 500 lbs.
  • Needs adequate color vision. Must wear protective clothing as required.
  • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperatures, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors.
  • May be required to travel to various locations.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
