Job summary

Sprague is hiring a Boiler/Equipment Operator for the Fitchburg, MA location to support the steam plant operations at our biomass facility. You will operate boiler systems, pumps, turbines and generators, with overtime as needed.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, MA 2nd Class Fireman's License or willingness to obtain, a valid driver’s license, and basic computer skills. We offer medical and retirement benefits starting on day one and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Massachusetts 2nd Class Fireman's License or willingness to obtain within 6 months of start date.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license is required.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the steam boiler and auxiliary equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, generators).
• Report equipment problems to supervisor and keep operating logs current.
• Start/stop equipment, open/close valves, maintain water treatment as directed.
• Perform maintenance tasks and operate wood yard equipment as needed.
• Comply with company policies and perform other duties as assigned.
