Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ, seeks an Associate Principal Scientist, Biomarker Operations Project Management to plan and execute clinical-trial biomarkers across the pipeline, ensuring compliant, efficient biospecimen collection, assay execution, and data delivery.

You will partner with biomarker scientists and study teams to define logistics, co‑author biomarker sections of clinical study protocols, and lead vendor and data-transfer activities across the biomarker program.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Proven experience in drug discovery and/or clinical research.
• Ability to excel in fast-paced, evolving conditions and advocate for operational excellence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently within a matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan clinical-trial biomarker setup and logistics to enable efficient study execution.
• Serve as operational partner to Biomarker Leads and implement biomarker strategies.
• Co-author biomarker sections of clinical study protocols.
• Coordinate sample handling, shipping, and processing with analytic teams.
• Develop vendor statements of work and data-transfer specs with clinical teams.
• Transfer biomarker data into the clinical data repository with Data Management.
• Design sample collection kits and lab manuals for shipments to vendors.
• Build partnerships with external biomarker vendors and internal teams.
• Identify and resolve conflicting stakeholder needs to maintain momentum.
• Implement streamlined workflows to maximize efficiency and data quality.
