Job summary

Qualifications

  • 36 sem. cred. hours in core subject area or equivalent.
  • Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (ETS Praxis Series).
  • Master's degree in a closely related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds Colorado Early Colleges beliefs and policies.
  • Develops and administers Biology curriculum aligned to school philosophy and goals.
  • Plans lessons, materials, and activities to connect course work to daily life.
  • Maintains IC records, attendance, grading, and reporting for students.

Job description

Anticipated start date is August 5th, 2026Position PurposeThe high school Biology instructor works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.Job DutiesUpholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.Develops and administers Biology education curriculum consistent with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to enhance learning and to demonstrate the application of course work to everyday life.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.Ensures effective communication with students and parents.Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.Selects and requisitions appropriate textbooks; instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; and maintains inventory records.Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and keeps informed of current developments in education.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university applicable to the teaching assignment, OREndorsement on a Colorado teaching license, OR36 semester credit hours in the core subject area, ORPassing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series).Masters degree in a closely related field preferred.Conditions of EmploymentAll offers of employment are conditional upon a successful background check and references.As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.Colorado Early Colleges is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, marital status, religion, ancestry, or need for special education services.Please note that we may begin reviewing applications and make hiring decisions prior to the application deadline.
