Job summary

TaskUs is seeking a Biology Specialist to join our US-based remote team (Texas preferred). You will review flagged biological queries, apply scientific judgment, and generate precise labels to train safety classifiers for frontier AI research and safeguards.

Requirements include a graduate-level degree in a life-sciences field and 1–3 years of lab or analytical experience, with strong written English. This full-time role offers a salary range of $80,000–$105,000 per year and requires US work

Qualifications

Graduate-level degree in microbiology, virology, molecular biology, immunology, synthetic biology, biosecurity or related field.
1–3 years of practical lab, research, or analytical experience in biology or biosecurity.
Solid understanding of virology, microbiology fundamentals, containment (BSL-2+), and gene synthesis/CRISPR workflows.

Responsibilities

Queue review and triage of automated detection flags across biological threat vectors.
Apply rigorous labeling to cases and prepare structured escalations for senior leads.
Review literature, databases and biosafety guidelines to verify restricted agents or dual-use risks.
Document findings clearly and participate in calibration sessions to ensure labeling precision.
