Job summary

Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) invites undergraduate and graduate students to join its Summer Internship Program. You will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment, collaborating with scientists on active projects that advance real-world science.

The program runs May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027, with a stipend of $9,650 for the full period, distributed bi-weekly. Schedule is 35 hours per week and a commitment through the entire program is required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in (or recently graduated from) an Indiana university undergraduate and/or graduate program OR having graduated from an Indiana High School.
• Degree in a field related to biology and/or chemistry.
• Strong interest in scientific research.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Interested in pursuing graduate studies or a career in research or science policy.
• Commitment to the full duration of the internship.
• Familiarity with software such as Excel, R, Python, or statistical tools (preferred).
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and data analysis tools (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist with lab experiments, sample preparation, and data collection.
• Review scientific literature and summarize key findings.
• Record results clearly using lab notebooks and digital tools.
• Help analyze data and prepare charts, figures, or short summaries.
• Join team meetings, trainings, and scientific discussions.
• Follow lab safety, biosafety, and ethical research practices.

Stipend:

This internship includes a stipend of $9,650 for the full program, disbursed in bi‑weekly installments on or before the 7th and 22nd of each month
