Job summary

Penn State Lehigh Valley invites applications for a teaching-line faculty member at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Biology. This is a non-tenure-line, limited-term, 36-week appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with possibility of re-appointment.

Responsibilities include teaching twelve contact hours per semester, including anatomy and physiology in the Emerging Health Professionals program, along with general biology, microbiology, and upper-level

Qualifications

• Master's degree in biology or related field required; PhD preferred for the Assistant Teaching Professor rank.
• Prior college-level teaching experience required.
• Experience working with undergraduates is preferred.
• Interest in active and collaborative learning is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Teach twelve contact hours per semester, including anatomy and physiology (lectures and laboratories) as part of the Emerging Health Professionals program.
• Offer general biology lectures and labs, core biology courses, microbiology lectures and labs, and/or upper-level courses in the candidate’s field.
• Provide academic advising and participate in campus, college, university, and professional service activities.
• Teaching assignments may include day, evening, night and weekend classes as needed.
