Job summary

Salt Lake Community College seeks a Learning Assistant for the Biology Department to support pre-major biology and pre-health science students. Under supervision, you will aid instructors in classroom and lab activities, provide peer tutoring, assist with course prep, maintain Canvas spaces, and help grade formative assessments.

Minimum 2.0 GPA, Federal Work Study eligibility for AY 2026-2027, and enrollment in at least 6 credit hours for Fall and Spring are required.

Qualifications

• Completion in the college biology course with a B or above.
• Federal Work Study eligibility for Academic Year 2026-2027.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall and Spring semesters.
• General biology knowledge and ability to interact with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff.
• Prior lab or tutoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructors with classroom or laboratory activities.
• Provide peer tutoring on topics.
• Assist the instructor in course preparation.
• Provide general maintenance/organization of classroom and Canvas spaces.
• Grade formative assessments.
• Collaborate with course instructors to determine specific tasks for the course.
