Job summary

Essex County College is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to perform laboratory preparation and support for each instructional discipline in the division. Under the supervision of the Chairperson for the Division of Biology and Chemistry, the successful candidate will prepare materials, set up laboratories, and assist faculty during lab sessions.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of laboratory preparation experience in life sciences.
Demonstrate reliability and flexibility with strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with computer applications, preferably Microsoft Office.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and communicate effectively.
Proven ability to maintain accurate records and follow regulations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Prepare materials and setups for all assigned laboratories for varying schedules.
Assemble and disassemble laboratory equipment as needed.
Supervise lab technicians and student workers during sessions.
Maintain inventory and handle procurement to support lab operations.
Ensure proper storage, disposal of laboratory wastes, and regulatory compliance.
Maintain up-to-date lab outlines and course materials.
