Job summary

Harper College is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator within the Mathematics and Science Division to oversee day-to-day operations of instructional laboratories. You will manage procurement, inventory, and maintenance of equipment, track the department budget, and liaise with faculty to ensure labs run smoothly.

Responsibilities include coordinating safety training, supervising the laboratory technician and student aides, and enforcing OSHA standards for hazardous waste disposal.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Biology required; Master's preferred.
• Two years of applied laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience in laboratory management involving accounting and budgeting is desirable.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate identification, acquisition, storage, inventory and preparation of supplies and equipment for all labs.
• Monitor department budget and maintain budget records.
• Provide technical laboratory and safety support to faculty.
• Oversee hazardous waste disposal per OSHA standards.
• Supervise laboratory technician and student aides.
• Coordinate maintenance of laboratories, stockrooms, and safety training.
