Job summary

Texas A&M University’s Biology Department is seeking a Laboratory Manager who, under general direction, oversees and coordinates daily laboratory operations, instructional activities, and facility maintenance in support of the department's A&P courses. This role ensures laboratories are prepared, equipped, and maintained to provide a safe learning environment for students and instructional staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related field.
  • Five years of experience in medical or teaching laboratory settings.
  • Master's degree in Biology or related field.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, hazardous chemical training, and FAMIS training.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations and instructional activities.
  • Lead and train laboratory personnel, technicians, teaching assistants, and student workers.
  • Coordinate maintenance, purchasing, and inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and accurate lab documentation.
  • Develop and update instructional materials and resources for courses.
  • Preserve teaching collections and educational materials.
