Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking an Assistant Lab Curator to support undergraduate biology laboratories. The role includes preparing labs, coordinating equipment repairs, and maintaining instructional facilities, with responsibility for handling live materials and hazardous substances.

The incumbent will work closely with faculty, DoIT, and teaching assistants, ensuring labs run smoothly and safely while upholding institutional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field with lab experience.
• Experience with laboratory procedures and techniques as evidenced by resume.
• Familiarity with biology lab safety and equipment handling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and changeover undergraduate biology laboratories each semester.
• Coordinate repair of lab equipment and maintain instructional facilities.
• Handle live biological materials and hazardous substances with care.
• Serve as liaison with DoIT for maintenance of computer hardware/software in labs.
• Supervise students and teaching assistants in lab procedures.
