Job description

The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a passionate and dedicated New York State (NYS) Certified Biology or Earth Science Teacher to join our team in an itinerant role, serving students in the Union Springs and Southern Cayuga school districts. Both districts are located in small rural communities, and share a commitment to providing quality education to students. Both districts offer diverse programs to cater to student needs, and have traditionally demonstrated strong academic performance. This is a full-time position, split between the two districts, and requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a passion for teaching Science. Dual certification in Biology and Earth Science is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned curriculum for students in both districts.
  • Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
  • Travel between districts as required to fulfill teaching responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Stay current with best practices in science education and integrate new strategies into lesson plans.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold, or be eligible for New York State Certification in Biology or Earth Science. Dual certification is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across two school communities.
  • Reliable transportation to travel between districts.
