Job description

Overview:

Position Title: Analyst I
Business Title: Biologist - Immunocytochemistry
Entity: Consumer Products Services Division
Department: ATL
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Reports to: Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Compensation Range: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour (the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

Position Summary:
The Biologist will be primarily responsible for cell culture maintenance, microscopy, specialized imaging, and immunoassays, using techniques for in vitro imaging of cellular aging.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain immortalized cell lines
  2. Prepare and maintain primary cell cultures
  3. Perform various cell based and biochemical in vitro assays
  4. Perform immunocytochemistry and cell staining
  5. Perform high content imaging of in vitro studies (Phenix platform)
  6. Perform microscopy
  7. Perform qPCR
  8. Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment necessary to support the laboratory
  9. Record data in Electronic Lab Notebooks
  10. Analyze data with familiarity of Excel and other analytical techniques
  11. Comply with clients and company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies
  12. Follow guidelines set forth by clients and in the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  13. Other duties as defined by manager, department needs, and workload

Skills & Proficiencies:

  1. Professional, clear, and concise communication required in written and verbal formats
  2. General background knowledge of cellular biology
  3. Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
  4. Ability to learn quickly and understand job specific software
  5. Ability to understand basic scientific terminology and communicate it to others
  6. Team oriented and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  7. Proven multi-tasker that thrives on juggling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  8. Strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate it effectively
  9. Driven, energetic person able to coordinate activities among different areas of the department
  10. Proven consistent pipetting skills and aseptic technique
  11. Knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and protocols
  12. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures

Education and Experience:

• Degree requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Biology or closely related field
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in laboratory environment

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
