Job summary

Joint Research and Development, LLC is seeking a Biologist to support the Department of Homeland Security on a government site in Washington, DC. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and opportunities across journeyman to senior levels.

Responsibilities include analyzing environmental samples for hazardous contaminants, operating and maintaining lab equipment, utilizing LIMS, and supporting QA/QC activities and audits. Flexible hours may be required to support mission needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry or similar from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years experience with a Bachelor’s or 6 years with a Master’s.
  • 3+ years of sample preparation and quantitative analysis of environmental samples (PCR/ELISA/capillary electrophoresis).

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes environmental or air samples for hazardous contamination.
  • Operates and maintains biological lab equipment (ECL, capillary electrophoresis, PCR).
  • Uses LIMS for data management of analytical results.
  • Supports QA/QC, audits, and maintains QA/QC records.
