Biologist & Environmental Permitting Lead

Position Overview

Jacobs’ Bellevue office is seeking a mid- to senior-level Biologist & Environmental Permitting Lead to join our Pacific Northwest Ecosystem Restoration, Science and Planning (ERS&P) team. Our team includes biologists, environmental planners, cultural resources experts, geomorphologists, and stream restoration engineers. We support infrastructure projects mainly in Western WA, focusing on environmental compliance and resource management. Our goal is to help clients secure natural resources while delivering transformative infrastructure projects, such as fish passage, wetland mitigation, and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop environmental plans, reports, and permits.
  2. Maintain communication with clients, regulatory agencies, and local government officials.
  3. Support proposal preparation, client relations, and business development.
  4. Mentor and manage entry-to-mid level environmental staff, fostering inclusive teams.

Minimum Qualifications
  • BSc or MSc in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years in environmental consulting, with 5+ years in Washington State, and 3+ years leading complex projects.
  • Experience with local, state, and federal permitting (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, SEPA, Shoreline, etc.).
  • Proven ability in aquatic resource surveys and knowledge of PNW ecosystems.
  • Strong team leadership and mentoring skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with various project delivery methods.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist certification.
  • Knowledge of construction impacts on wetlands and wildlife.
  • Ability to travel for projects.
  • Experience in Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, or Hawai’i.
Additional Details

Salary range: $84,300 - $147,500 per year, dependent on experience and location. Jacobs offers comprehensive benefits and a flexible work environment.
