Job summary

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is recruiting Biologists for the Game Management Division to conduct fisheries, wildlife, and habitat management projects in Reno. Biologists will conduct surveys, collect and analyze data, develop management recommendations, monitor wildlife populations for disease and movement, respond to human-wildlife conflicts, and coordinate with other field staff.

Incumbents work independently with proficiency in wildlife research, population monitoring, and public relations activities.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biology, wildlife management, or closely related field and three years of professional wildlife management experience
• Ability to operate firearms and wildlife immobilization equipment
• Willingness to be on-call nights and weekends
• Ability to operate 4x4 vehicles and ATVs
• Ability to hike in remote rugged terrain for extended distances
• Knowledge of survey techniques, statistical analysis, and wildlife capture and transport methodology
