Job summary

The Nordman Lab at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, invites applications for a Research Technician to support molecular biology research and day-to-day lab operations. The successful candidate will work on metazoan genome duplication and maintenance using biochemical, genetic, and proteomic approaches.

We welcome recent graduates and applicants with biology or biochemistry coursework; prior lab experience preferred, with emphasis on Drosophila.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related area.
• Prior experience performing laboratory research is necessary.
• Experience working with Drosophila is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent and collaborative research to support the lab's mission.
• Order and receive laboratory supplies and manage day-to-day operations.
• Maintain and organize Drosophila stocks and culture media.
• Prepare Drosophila culture media and vital reagents.
• Independently perform molecular cloning projects, Western blotting and protein purification.
• Other duties as assigned.
