Job summary

U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks a Compliance Officer to provide regulatory oversight on possession, use and transfer of biological select agents and toxins.

The selectee will evaluate procedures at regulated entities and ensure reporting and documentation requirements are met. For GS-13, specialized experience is required, including analyzing technical information, evaluating risks, and interpreting complex regulations to enforce compliant actions.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree as described or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• This grade requires no education substitution; only experience and/or education as defined.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy of technical information to evaluate risks and assess compliance with regulations.
• Develop recommendations for compliance actions based on consequences of infractions.
• Utilize information systems to maintain and analyze data.
• Interpret regulations and guidance to implement proposed changes and ensure uniform enforcement.
• Collaborate with team to communicate with the regulated community and the public.
