Diablo Valley College, part of Contra Costa Community College District, seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology with an emphasis in Biological Anthropology to begin Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach introductory Biological Anthropology courses (AN THRO 140 and 141L) and other subfields such as Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology (e.g., ANTHRO 120, 125, 130).

Qualifications

• Masters’ in anthropology or archaeology as required.
• OR Bachelor in anthropology or archaeology AND a Master’s in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics or paleontology.

Responsabilités

• Advancing equitable student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with course outlines.
• Participating in assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs.
• Developing and revising curriculum and participating in program review.
• Engaging in department program improvement initiatives.
• Participating in department, division, and college committees.
• Participating in professional development activities at department and college level.
• Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter and effective teaching strategies.
• Informing students of course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
• Preparing and grading class assignments and examinations; informing students of progress.
• Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and personnel records; submitting by deadlines.
• Posting and holding regular office hours.
• Participating in College’s shared governance processes.

Masters in anthropology or archaeology
