Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a senior bioinformatics professional to lead complex projects and oversee data analysis workflows. You will design novel computational methods and ML models to interpret genetic, clinical, and imaging data, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior analysts, designing robust pipelines, and providing technical support for bioinformatics tools while applying rigorous SDLC practices and modern data

Qualifications

  • Biology/biomedical informatics degree required or related field; master's is preferred.
  • Experience 5–7 years in bioinformatics, may substitute degree with related experience.

Job Summary Summary

Responsible for leading complex bioinformatics projects and overseeing data analysis workflows.

Essential Functions
  • Design and apply novel computational methods/bioinformatics algorithms, machine learning models for building data models and tools using various software and statistical tools to aid in the analysis and interpretation of genetic data, clinical data, and images.
  • Collaborate with other teams, stakeholders, and external partners on large-scale projects.
  • Contribute to the development of bioinformatics strategies and research plans.
  • Mentor and train junior analysts or team members.
  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot data processing/software pipelines and data architecture using various computational tools.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for bioinformatics tools and software.
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses and data integration across multiple datasets.
Qualifications

Education Bachelor's Degree Bioinformatics required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Bioinformatics preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Experience Related experience in bioinformatics 5-7 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to program, such as with Perl/Python.
  • SQL proficiency using MySQL and/or SQL Server, as well as knowledge of NoSQL and other DBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Apache CouchDB), is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SDLC principles.
  • Familiarity with principles of experimental design and modern data analysis paradigms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
