Advocate Health’s Wake Forest University Health Sciences - Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a bioinformatics specialist to provide support for biostatistics and bioinformatics, collaborating with investigators on genomics and imaging studies. The role includes developing software tools and pipelines for quantitative data analysis.

You will work with Java, Perl, Python, R, and database programming while applying advanced statistical methods to biomedical data.

Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with resources and tools relevant to research in genomics, proteomics, imaging, bioinformatics, and related disciplines.
An understanding of the fundamentals of modern biology and bioinformatics.
Experience in computer programming (Java, Perl, C/C++) and database programming.
Knowledge of statistics and experience conducting statistical analysis.
Experience with bioinformatic tools and public databases.

Responsibilities

Provide bioinformatics support for faculty and staff in biostatistics and bioinformatics.
Collaborate with cancer center investigators and assist in developing genomics, proteomics, imaging, and other related quantitatively oriented studies.
Design and develop bioinformatics analysis and visualization software tools and web applications.
Demonstrate knowledge in data visualization software and web services development.
Develop and apply computational algorithms to biomedical studies using genomic, proteomic, expression, imaging data.
Perform timely bioinformatics analysis to aid researchers and maintain shared tools and data sets.
