Job summary

Eagle Health Analytics has contracted with CDC’s Mycotic Diseases Branch to provide laboratory, epidemiology, and communications support. The bioinformatics specialist will handle WGS, metagenomics, and pipeline execution, documenting QA/QC and analysis results for surveillance and outbreak investigations.

The role requires 3–5 years in bioinformatics, knowledge of genomics and CDC policies, and strong communication skills to coordinate with epidemiology and laboratory staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in bioinformatics.
  • Knowledge of genomics and laboratory testing.
  • Knowledge of CDC policy, quality and regulatory training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to independently resolve conflicts.
  • Working knowledge of CDC applications.

Responsibilities

  • Receive NGS data and metadata from collaborators via CDC-approved mechanisms.
  • Perform raw-read QA/QC and document quality metrics and rerun needs.
  • Run WGS and metagenomic pipelines for pathogen detection and characterization.
  • Maintain pipelines, scripts, and databases with proper documentation.
  • Maintain source code and pipeline docs in the CDC GitLab or approved repository.
  • Publish analyses only with CDC approval.
