Job description

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist in Tucson, Arizona to support research and development initiatives focused on genomic technologies and data-driven scientific discovery. This role will partner with cross-functional teams to analyze complex biological data, develop bioinformatics workflows, and support the advancement of molecular and sequencing-based applications.
The ideal candidate combines strong computational expertise with a solid understanding of molecular biology and next-generation sequencing technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze and interpret genomic, transcriptomic, and single-cell sequencing datasets.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines and analytical workflows.
  • Partner with scientists and researchers to design studies, troubleshoot experiments, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Support assay development, validation, and implementation through computational analysis and data interpretation.
  • Evaluate data quality, identify technical issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Create clear visualizations, reports, and presentations to communicate scientific findings.
  • Maintain well-documented, reproducible workflows and analytical processes.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience

One of the following is required:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience; OR
  • Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant industry experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant bioinformatics experience.
Required Technical Skills
  • Experience analyzing DNA and RNA sequencing data.
  • Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis.
  • Strong understanding of genomics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics principles.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python.
  • Experience working in Linux-based computing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 10x Genomics workflows.
  • Experience working with multiomics datasets.
  • Knowledge of assay development, molecular diagnostics, or translational research.
  • Experience with workflow automation, cloud computing, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience with C++ or Java is a plus.
