Job summary

The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine invites applications for a Research Scholar position in the Diaz lab. The successful candidate will contribute to bioinformatics research on the oral microbiome using computational analyses of metagenomic sequence data.

Responsibilities include implementing and evaluating algorithms for intra-species strain variability, developing pipelines to resolve strains in metagenomes, and assisting in manuscript preparation; 37.5 hours per week on South

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in relevant discipline.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a year-for-year basis.
• Graduate degree in Bioinformatics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement and evaluate algorithms for intra-species strain variability in the oral microbiome.
• Contribute to development of pipelines to resolve strains in metagenomes.
• Evaluate relationships of strains with periodontal disease.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings, present and discuss data.
• Assist in manuscript preparation and writing.
