Yahara Software is seeking a Bioinformatics Data Engineer in Madison, WI to turn raw lab, genomics, and research data into clean, analysis-ready datasets. You’ll design data models and build repeatable pipelines, enabling researchers to query and reuse complex data efficiently.

You will apply statistics and exploratory analyses, create insightful visualizations, and mentor engineers while owning project delivery.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data science, data engineering, or software engineering.
• Hands-on wrangling of large, messy datasets into usable form.
• Knowledge of statistics and exploratory data analysis.
• Experience leading technical work for a team.

Responsibilities

• Turn raw lab, research, and genomics data into clean, analysis-ready datasets.
• Design data models that make scientific data easy to query and reuse.
• Build repeatable data pipelines so analyses don’t start from scratch.
• Apply statistical methods and exploratory analyses to reveal what data says.
• Create visualizations to help researchers interpret results at a glance.
• Build data quality checks to catch issues before results are produced.
• Partner with scientists to understand the biology behind the data.
• Own technical delivery for your project team and mentor engineers.
• Present results, tradeoffs, and risks to clients in plain language.
• Join pre-sales conversations with outlines and rough estimates.
