Job summary

Cincinnati Children's is seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst I in a full-time role based in the Lincoln Building. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of bioinformatics solutions that support clinical and research initiatives.

You will curate, analyze, and interpret complex biomedical data while developing NGS pipelines, collaborating with clinicians, researchers, and IT teams to optimize workflows and support scientific publications and accreditation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 0+ years of experience.
• Masters’ or PhD in Bioinformatics preferred.
• Python (required); C/C++; R proficiency.
• Git and code repository tools experience.
• Linux OS, command-line and Bash scripting.
• Experience with HPC or similar resources.
• Experience applying AI/ML to bioinformatics/genomics problems.
• Experience with data visualization and data summarization.
• Familiarity with Docker.
• Familiarity with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with genomic, sequencing, clinical datasets.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Informatics: curate, annotate and organize biomedical data in various formats and ensure secure, accessible storage.
• Data analysis: run pipelines for curation, processing and analysis of biomedical data and develop NGS pipelines.
• Requirements gathering: interface with clinicians/researchers to document complex requirements and specs.
• Software evaluation & development: assist with implementation, testing and tool optimization.
• Publication: contribute to analyses, reports and materials for publications and meetings.
