Bioinformatician, Omics QA/QC Alden Scientific | Full-Time | Cambridge, MA
Alden Scientific is a leading life sciences company based in Cambridge, MA, focused on AI-powered multi-omics analysis and precision biomedical research. We work at the intersection of advanced laboratory science, large-scale data, and translational insight to support biopharma, academia, government, and individuals pioneering precision medicine globally.
A crucial part of multi-omic data processing is quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC). Rigorous QA/QC is necessary to ensure our research, findings, and interpretation are not confounded by technical artifacts.
A successful candidate should be able to say that a data point is not up to our QA/QC standards, as well as why. We're looking for a Bioinformatician with strong Python experience and molecular biology experience. While the role is fully computational, we're looking for candidates who understand the ins and outs of the omics assays we use (e.g., proteomics, immunomics, metabolomics). We expect you to be proactive in suggesting changes to our SOPs for improving data quality.
Our strong preference is for candidates who can work at our Cambridge, MA office. Exceptional US-based candidates with prior success in remote roles will be considered; remote team members should expect periodic travel to Boston for collaborative work.
Please note: we are unable to sponsor work visas for international candidates at this time.
Our process includes an introductory call, an interview with the hiring manager, a take-home task (4-6 hours, materials provided), a presentation to our quantitative biology group, and a final conversation with our CEO.
