Job summary

BioLegend, Inc. in San Diego is seeking a Biochemist to oversee the manufacture of LEGENDplex immunoassay components and kits, perform testing, and document batch records. You will collaborate with Product Development to ensure smooth transfer of new products into Manufacturing.

The role requires a degree in biology/chemistry with relevant experience and strong organizational and documentation skills, with potential for growth in a GMP environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manufacture kit components including antibody-bead conjugations and formulations
• Operate bottling, labeling, and storing components per SOPs
• Perform in-process testing to ensure component and kit quality
• Document, analyze, and review data
• Manage inventory, plan and execute production work-orders
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer new products from Product Development to Manufacturing
• Support packaging and assembly during peak demand

Job Summary

The Biochemist for the LEGENDplex™ Group at BioLegend will be responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing, including planning, making and testing immunoassay components and kits, trouble‑shooting issues associated with product quality, and documenting and reviewing production batch records to ensure accuracy and completeness. Additional responsibilities include working with the Product Development team to ensure proper transfer of new products from the Product Development Group to Manufacturing.

• Manufacture kit components including antibody‑bead coupling conjugations, antibody‑biotin conjugation, and various formulations
• Work with bottling, labeling, and storing components according to standard operating protocols
• Perform in‑process testing to ensure the quality of components and kits
• Document, analyze, and review data
• Manage inventory, plan, and execute scheduled production work‑orders
• Solve complex problems in practical ways, both within the department and with cross‑functional teams
• Exercise daily judgement within defined procedures to determine appropriate action
• Other projects or responsibilities as may be required, including assisting packaging and assembly functions during peak demand

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience

• Associate’s degree with relevant experience OR
• New graduate with Bachelor’s Degree in a Biology, Chemistry, or other related field and 1+ years of relevant academic or professional experience

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

• 1+ years of hands‑on experience with immunoassays such as ELISA or other functional assays
• One year of Good Laboratory Practice and Good Documentation Practice experience
• Working experience in GMP industry and setting in compliance with ISO13485 standards
• Good time management and planning skills
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
• Basic computer skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Office products is a plus
• Must be organized, have ability to learn, retain, and to follow procedures, protocols, and instruction
• Must have the ability to communicate (oral and written) and to multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced environment

The hourly pay for this position will vary by level, as we are open to considering candidates at Levels I or II depending on experience and qualifications. Each level has a corresponding range that reflects the appropriate scope of responsibilities and expectations. The anticipated hourly range for this role is $20.00 –$33.50 per hour. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company.
