Job summary

UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas is seeking a Research Assistant I (Full-time) to support laboratory duties including mouse colony management/genotyping, molecular biology and cell culture, and general laboratory maintenance.

A Bachelor’s degree and prior laboratory research experience are strongly preferred. The role involves assisting with research protocols, data collection, and maintaining accurate records in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and prior laboratory research experience are strongly preferred.
• General knowledge of research fields.
• Experience with mouse colony management/genotyping, preferred.
• Experience with molecular biology and cell culture, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, conducts basic/translational research and may include animal work.
• Performs laboratory experiments to support research objectives and maintains accurate records.
• Coordinates data collection and organization; updates notebooks and databases.
• Maintains clean laboratory equipment and work areas; ensures safety compliance.
• May coordinate technicians to ensure timely, high-quality results.
