Job summary

LSUHSC New Orleans is seeking a Research Associate 1, 2, or 3 to assist with the Biobank Core laboratory across multiple investigators and partner institutions. Responsibilities include database, equipment procurement, and upgrades.

Duties also include patient identification, informed consent, specimen collection, tissue processing, storage, and maintaining Biobank data; opportunities to train junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Basic Science, Health Science, or related field.
• Experience in research or research environment, laboratory management, Core lab, and/or clinical experience.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 20 lbs and travel between New Orleans area hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the Biobank Core laboratory used by multiple investigators.
• Procure and upgrade databases and equipment; manage Biobank data.
• Collect specimens, process tissues, store and maintain samples.
• Train and supervise junior staff, visiting Fellows, and students on equipment handling and lab safety.
