Job summary

The Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. in San Ramon, CA is seeking personable, focused tutors to teach Biology and Chemistry at our center. This is an on-site, part-time role with 18-24 hours per week during the school year.

Responsibilities include delivering AP-level biology and chemistry instruction, taking initiative, and collaborating with fellow tutors to expand curricula. Training is provided, and weekend/evening shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Science tutors must teach Biology and Chemistry through AP level.
• Prior tutoring experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or ongoing study toward a degree is required.
• Must take initiative and work independently, collaborating to expand curricula.
• Assessment test will be administered prior to interviewing.

Responsibilities

Job description

At BATC, we believe a tutor's academic expertise is just as important as their ability to effectively convey the subject matter to students of all levels and backgrounds. We are seeking personable, focused, and enthusiastic individuals to tutor Biology & Chemistry at our center in San Ramon, CA. This is an only on-site position.

• 1 part-time positions (18 - 24 hrs/wk)

All training will take place in our San Ramon center. Science tutor positions require availability during the school year (a combination of shifts), Mon-Thurs 3:30-10 pm and Sundays 10 am-9 pm. Your schedule at BATC will be based on your availability for complete shifts during our business hours.

Working at BATC:

• Pay is $34/hr and up, DOE
• We offer set shifts; your regular hours are guaranteed whether or not we are able to schedule students in them.
• Paid training, prep time, and staff meetings
• Tutors who work 24+ hrs/wk are eligible for "full-time" benefits, including company-subsidized health insurance

Qualifications

Science tutors must have a thorough understanding of and ability to teach Biology and Chemistry through the AP level. Prior tutoring experience is preferred and a bachelor's degree (or ongoing study toward a degree) is required. Tutors must be able to take initiative and work independently. At the same time, we expect tutors to collaborate with each other to develop and/or expand curricula. All candidates will be given an assessment test in their subject prior to interviewing.

We are only hiring tutors who are able to commit to working with us at least through the 2026-2027 school year (mid June 2027) (potential for additional availability to continue with the position through the academic year 2027-2028 is favorably taken into consideration).
