Job description

Bio-Analytical Instrument Technician – Cleveland, OH

Sunday to Thursday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Training shift may vary. Provides assistance to internal clients and is accountable for working independently with minimal supervision. The position requires strong communication skills both verbal and written plus technical skills to accomplish job responsibilities.

Pay range: $27.41+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended. Salaries are based on skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform high complexity preventive maintenance on various instrumentation (e.g., LCMS/MS, Ion Mobility, HPLC, and upcoming new technology).
  • Perform experiments and suitability tests to evaluate new laboratory instruments.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation including communication, software, and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot assay‑related issues related to instrument problems (low counts, irregular pressure traces, retention times, reagents, etc.).
  • Assist in installation of new instruments.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation per inspection agencies, manufacturers, and department recommendations.
  • Maintain a high level of competency and expertise in instrumentation (read articles, attend workshops, in‑house lectures, off‑site trainings).
  • Maintain inventory of critical parts for instrumentation.
  • Provide suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity and give consistent feedback.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action.
  • Work overtime to ensure repair of critical instrumentation.
Qualifications
  • 10 years of laboratory experience.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience with instruments such as LCMS/MS, GCMS/MS, HPLC, etc.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Lifts light to moderately heavy objects: 1–10 lb frequently; 11–25 lb occasionally; 26–50 lb seldom; >50 lb not to be lifted without assistance.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time and requires long hours of eye and hand coordination.
Skills
  • Strong computer skills (word processing, Excel, PowerPoint) using Windows software.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment while maintaining production and quality standards.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or above, preferably in science, engineering, or computer information from an accredited college or university; at least 2 years laboratory experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 10 years laboratory experience required.
