Job summary

AlphaGraphics San Marcos is seeking a Bindery Operator to finish printed products. You will operate a range of finishing machines, read work orders, and ensure quality by inspecting samples for defects. The role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and contributing to a fast-paced local business.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience setting up and operating bindery/finishing equipment in print shops with high job count and tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail required to inspect products for defects.
• Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and collaboration.
• Good mathematical skills for measurements and tolerances.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
• Set-up automatic cutting programs manually into cutter machine.
• Examine samples for defects such as folding, bindings, toner streaks, torn pages.
• Set up and operate machines for cutting, folding, scoring/creasing, laminating, binding.
• Monitor machine operations and adjust as needed.
• Install and adjust bindery devices to accommodate sheets or books.
• Maintain daily production records using forms/computer.
• Lubricate/clean machine parts and perform minor repairs.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Position Summary

Our Bindery Operator is primarily responsible for operating various machines and equipment to finish products that have been printed so they can be delivered. Key Responsibilities

• Read work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
• Set-up automatic cutting programs manually into cutter machine.
• Examine folded, stitched, collated, bound, and unbound product samples for defects such as imperfect folding, bindings, toner streaks, torn or loose pages.
• Set up and operate, machines that perform operations such as cutting, folding, scoring/creasing, padding, drilling, hand punch for coil binding, laminating, perfect binding, saddle stitching, booklet making, etc.
• Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
• Install and adjust bindery machine devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, etc., to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes.
• Maintain records of daily production, using computer and specified forms.
• Lubricate and clean machine parts and make minor repairs to keep machines in working condition.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
