Key Responsibilities
- Read work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
- Set up automatic cutting programs manually into cutter machines.
- Examine folded, stitched, collated, bound, and unbound product samples for defects such as imperfect folding, bindings, toner streaks, or torn pages.
- Operate machines for cutting, folding, scoring/creasing, padding, drilling, coil binding, laminating, perfect binding, saddle stitching, and booklet making.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and determine needed adjustments.
- Install and adjust bindery devices — knives, guides, rollers — to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified sizes.
- Maintain daily production records using computers and specified forms.
- Lubricate and clean machine parts; perform minor repairs to keep equipment in working condition.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years setting up and operating bindery and finishing equipment in medium to large print shops with high job counts and tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail: Ability to inspect finished products and identify defects quickly.
- Interpersonal skills: Strong collaboration within a team-oriented production floor.
- Mathematical skills: Accurate measurements and program setup for cutting and binding equipment.
- Reliability: Consistent attendance, punctuality, and workstation focus.
Compensation and Benefits
