Summary

As a Building Information Modeling Coordinator at Tropic, you will be responsible for advanced modeling and creating working shop drawings to support shop fabrication and field installation on various construction projects. You will coordinate drawings and work closely with Project Managers, Vendors, Engineers, and Field Personnel. Autodesk software and other 3rd party tools will be used for design.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of mechanical scope, including HVAC, structural framing, openings, and impact of other trades, ensuring compliance with specifications.
• Participate in coordination meetings with general contractors, trades, and project engineers.
• Review models for completeness and accuracy, transforming conceptual models into detailed, construction-ready models (LOD 350-400).
• Support and enforce BIM standards and conduct quality control checks, including clash detection.
• Resolve issues with plans and specifications by liaising with architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage coordination models, submittals, and shop drawings, assessing conformance to contracts.
• Prepare as-built and turnover models, including related documentation.
• Establish drawing formats and ensure scope and requirements are met.
• Generate RFIs and field questions, and modify drawings as needed.

Additional Tasks

• Collaborate with project team to understand goals and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Follow company CAD and detailing standards.
• Assist with drawing requirements, participate in project coordination, and incorporate changes into drawings.

Qualifications

• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Associate degree in design/drafting or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years experience in commercial Piping and/or HVAC piping.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, Revit, Trimble, Sysque, Evolve, MS Office suite.
• Understanding of spool drawings, HVAC systems, and related codes.
• Honesty, integrity, accountability, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Professionalism, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn BIM tools.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, lift up to 30 lbs., and dexterity of fingers.
