Job summary

SchemmER Associates Inc. seeks an experienced Design Technology Lead to advance BIM-driven project delivery in Clive, IA. You will guide design technology adoption, lead standards development, and support software management across disciplines.

You will also train teams, troubleshoot BIM workflows, and collaborate with architectural, engineering, and corporate partners to raise quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience with BIM on complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of BIM/CAD tools and workflows (Revit, AutoCAD).
• Experience with 3D scanning and reality capture tasks.

Job Details: Level: Experienced • Location: Clive, IA 50325 • Position Type: Full Time

As our Design Technology Lead, you’ll take a proactive role in advancing how architectural projects are planned, executed, and delivered through Building Information Modeling (BIM) and design technology. You’ll guide teams on complex project needs, oversee standards and workflows, support software and content management, and contribute hands‑on in BIM/VDC and reality capture efforts to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and facilitate the CADD/BIM committee; partner with disciplines to develop, maintain, and improve standards.
• Provide division-wide training on design technology tools; plan and lead recurring training sessions.
• Serve as a go‑to resource for project teams—troubleshoot issues, coach best practices, and help teams deliver on complex project requirements.
• Maintain and coordinate updates to BIM libraries, templates, and related content.
• Support software lifecycle activities including updates, installations, and deployments.
• Administer design software licensing and support projects hosted on cloud-based collaboration platforms.
• Provide reality capture, BIM, and VDC services as needed to support project delivery.
• Promote adoption of standards across disciplines; document workflows, decisions, and key technical information.
• Build collaborative relationships with architectural, engineering, and corporate partners.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience with demonstrated competence in BIM principles and practices on increasingly complex projects.
• Strong working knowledge of BIM/CAD tools and workflows; proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated expertise with 3D scanning/reality capture and BIM-related assignments.
• Ability to develop standards, train others, and provide effective technical support across teams.
• Strong communication, documentation, and cross-discipline collaboration skills.

Education

• Associate degree in Computer Aided Design (CAD) or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Professional license not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and governing BIM standards, templates, and shared content libraries for multi-discipline teams.
• Experience with cloud collaboration (e.g., model hosting, access control, and coordination workflows).
• Comfort leading change, driving adoption, and coaching teams through new tools and processes.
• Familiarity with established operating procedures and quality standards within an A/E firm environment.
