Job summary

Prime Controls L.P., headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is seeking a BIM (Revit – Virtual Design Construction) Modeler to support project delivery and standards. This role will generate content for Prime Controls VDC team to use in construction sequencing, proposals, shop drawings, spooling and pre-fabrication efforts.

The position reports to the BIM team and project managers. The ideal candidate has 2 years in AEC with Revit proficiency, 1 year in electrical routing, and solid skills in Navisworks

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in architectural, engineering or construction (AEC) industry with production modeling using 3D model objects.
• 1 year experience in electrical routing and 3D model detailing using 3D objects.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency using Revit.
• Working knowledge of Navisworks Manage clash detection.
• Strong verbal, written and electronic communication skills for information requests.

Responsibilities

• Modeling efforts for project delivery and standards in BIM (Revit).
• Develop model components from ideas to prototypes and production-grade delivery.
• Assist in sequencing and assembly steps and communicate them graphically (4D).
• Create bill of materials/cut lists and support pricing/estimating (5D).
• Perform QC reviews and assist in QA of other modelers’ work.
• Coordinate 3D model elements with field fabricators and other teams.

Overview

As a BIM (Revit – Virtual Design Construction) Modeler you will be responsible for providing modeling efforts for both project delivery and standards.This role will generate content for Prime Controls VDC team to utilize in a variety of ways, including but not limited to construction sequence planning, proposals, shop drawings, spooling, pre-assembly and pre-fabrication efforts, safety orientations, and task planning. The position will report to and receive direction from project BIM team members and the various project-level management teams.

A Typical Day at Prime Controls

• Receive, process, and archive of model files from designers, Prime Controls staff and trade subcontractors.
• Development of model components from ideas to prototypes, shop/approval drawings and jigging/assembly concepts through production-grade delivery.
• Assist in the development of sequencing and assembly steps and communication of these steps to stakeholders graphically (4D).
• Creation of bill of materials/cut lists and support of pricing and estimating efforts (5D).
• Perform QC review of work personally produced prior to issue to other teams and assist in QA review of work produced by other modelers within the team.
• Facilitate the exchange and coordination of the 3D model elements with field fabricators.
• Participate in technological collaboration between Prime Controls project team members.

What You Will Bring

The Basic

• 2 years’ experience in architectural, engineering or construction (AEC) industry or similar experience in a relevant Manufacturing industry with a focus on production modeling and detailing using 3D model objects.
• 1 year experience in electrical (routing conduit, placing hangers, Unistrut racks and mounting. Electrical construction methods), virtual design construction industry or similar experience in a relevant Manufacturing industry (mechanical or plumbing) with a focus on production modeling and detailing using 3D model objects.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency using Revit.
• Working knowledge of Navisworks Manage clash detection.
• Strong verbal, written and electronic communication skills for responding to information requests and tasks.
• Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended periods of overtime or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction sequences.

The Preferred

• Understanding of building controls systems, Instrumentation and Controls, Hazardous Production Material, Life Safety, and fire alarm systems.
• Total Station Experience a plus.
• eVolve Electrical Experience a plus.
• 3D laser scanning experience a plus, including using point cloud data to help create a clash free model and for as-built purposes.
• Previous electrical field construction experience.
