Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced BIM Model Manager to lead the digital model environment and deliverables for large projects in our Chicago office. You will drive 3D coordination, document management, and digital delivery alongside project teams and managers.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in digital design and 3+ years in digital delivery, and strong communication skills to interface with clients and HDR leadership.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 3 years digital delivery (model management).
  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and building systems.
  • Advanced skills in 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
  • Advanced skills in 3D coordination tools.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and communication tools.
  • Familiar with industry standards, discipline codes, and specifications.
  • Familiar with automation and programming applications for efficiencies.
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications.
  • Familiar with content creation and management concepts.
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the digital model environment and deliverables for an entire project.
  • Understand how disciplines interact and how construction documents are produced.
  • Work with the Project Manager to generate and maintain the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and deliverables.
  • Initiate projects by establishing server infrastructure, discipline models, and digital deliverables.
  • Execute digital deliverables and support production teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support and communicate the deliverable schedule to the team.
  • Monitor model health and coordination processes from planning through construction documents.
  • Provide guidance with minimal oversight to project team members.
  • Develop and maintain the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP).
  • Establish the document management system and server infrastructure for multi-discipline projects.
  • Ensure the team has software, versions, access, and training needed.
  • Generate and maintain model setup including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, and views.
  • Monitor and maintain company standards and model health.
  • Host Digital Delivery coordination meetings for quality control.
  • Coordinate and compile all project digital deliverables at milestones.
  • Archive projects at submittals and closeout.
  • Communicate effectively with HDR management, production staff, and clients.

In the role of BIM Model Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Manage the digital model environment and deliverables for an entire project
  • Have an advanced understanding of how all disciplines interact and how construction documents are produced
  • Work directly with the Project Manager to generate and maintain the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP), while managing the deliverables outlined within
  • Begin the project initiation procedure, establishing the server infrastructure, discipline models, and digital deliverables outlined in the project scope
  • Execute digital deliverables and support production teams throughout the complete lifecycle of projects
  • Provide technical support, while communicating the deliverable schedule to the project team
  • Maintain quality, this individual will monitor the model health and coordination processes of the project, from the planning phase thru issue of construction documents
  • Execute these tasks with minimal oversight by the Digital Delivery Leads and provide guidance to project team members
  • Develop and maintain the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP)
  • Establish the document management system and maintain the server infrastructure for multi-discipline projects
  • Ensure the team has the appropriate software, versions, access, and training needed to execute the project requirements
  • Generate and maintain model setup including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, sheets, and general models, to accommodate the disciplines and project requirements
  • Monitor and maintain company standards and model health
  • Host Digital Delivery coordination meetings with the project team to ensure optimal quality control through Design Reviews and 3D Coordination processes
  • Communicate, coordinate, and compile all project digital deliverables and exchange process at predetermined milestones
  • Project archiving at submittals and closeout
  • Engage in close and effective communication and presentations with HDR management, production staff, and clients

  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
