Tebarco Mechanical Corporation (TMC) is a full-service, licensed mechanical contractor and engineering firm recognized as a leader in the mechanical construction industry. We provide the complete design, installation, and servicing of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, industrial process, medical gas, and other systems. We serve a diverse base of clients, including those in the corporate, educational, industrial, medical, and public sectors.

Job Summary

Tebarco is seeking a skilled BIM Plumbing Designer II (in-office) to support our design, coordination, and field teams in delivering top-tier mechanical projects. The BIM Designer will utilize advanced BIM software to create, manage, and coordinate 3D models for plumbing systems, ensuring clash-free designs and accurate shop drawings. This role requires collaboration with engineers, project managers, and field superintendents to bridge the gap between office planning and on-site execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • 3D Modeling & Coordination: Develop detailed 3D models of plumbing systems from engineered drawings with minimal supervision. Use software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks to ensure full coordination with other trades.
  • Shop Drawings & Documentation: Produce shop drawings, spool drawings, and fabrication-ready models to support prefabrication and field installation.
  • Clash Detection: Perform clash detection and interference checks, generating reports and collaborating with project teams to resolve spatial conflicts before construction.
  • Collaboration: Participate in real-time coordination meetings (e.g., via Microsoft Teams) and maintain project documentation on TMC’s file server or client-preferred platforms (Bluebeam, Procore, etc.).
  • Field Integration: Work with field superintendents to provide digital construction layouts for tools like Trimble robotic total stations and mobile applications on iPads.
  • Standards Compliance: Adhere to TMC’s BIM standards and workflows, contributing to continuous improvement of processes and templates.
  • Support Project Teams: Assist engineers and estimators with conceptual designs, cost estimates, and design-build deliverables as needed.
  • Leadership: Help mentor less experienced BIM Designers with knowledge and skills gained from working in the industry. Report to BIM Manager.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in BIM modeling or as design engineer, preferably in mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing systems. Any additional field experience is valued.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks. Familiarity with Fabrication CADmep, Bluebeam, Trimble layout tools, and other relevant software is a plus.
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, CAD Drafting, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes, trade coordination, and field layout techniques. Experience with design-build projects is preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively with diverse project stakeholders.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to visit job sites if needed for surveys or coordination (valid driver’s license required).
Why Join Tebarco?
  • Growth Opportunities: We invest in our employees with training and development to help you reach your full potential.
  • Innovative Culture: Work with cutting-edge technology and a BIM team committed to continuous improvement.
  • Competitive Benefits: Enjoy comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with company matching, annual incentive bonus plan, and more.
