Job description

LFG designs, builds and manages power infrastructure for compute systems and utility providers. The BIM Manager owns the building information models and maintains the design standards, software and workflows for internal and external engineering teams. A data center is designed by seven disciplines and several outside firms at once, and the model is where their work has to fit together before it is built.

You will set up the model for each new project, keep it coordinated through design and construction, and hand over an accurate as-built model to Facility Operations.

What you will do
  • Set up and maintain the Revit/CAD model for each site, covering the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and civil designs.
  • Write and enforce the company BIM standards: BIM execution plans, naming conventions, level of development, templates, families and shared coordinate systems.
  • Run clash detection and coordination meetings across disciplines and outside design firms, track clashes to resolution and report coordination status to the Engineering leads.
  • Manage the common data environment and model exchange with outside architects, engineers and contractors, including Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360.
  • Produce drawings, sheets, schedules and quantity takeoffs from the model, and support permit submittals.
  • Build and maintain a library of equipment families: generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS, chillers, air handlers, racks and liquid cooling equipment.
  • Link the model to Civil 3D site models and to GIS and fiber route data.
  • Review contractor models and as-built submittals during construction, and deliver a verified as-built model at handover.
  • Train engineers and consultants in Revit and the company standards, and set up new users.
  • Evaluate and roll out software and automation, for example Dynamo scripts or the Revit API, that saves the team time.
  • Prepare the model for use by Facility Operations and the Software Engineer, so that equipment, space and asset data can feed the monitoring and asset tracking systems.
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering, construction management or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years working in BIM on industrial, data center or other technical buildings, including at least 2 years leading BIM for a project or a team.
  • Expert proficiency in Revit across the architectural, structural and MEP disciplines.
  • Experience with Navisworks or a similar clash detection tool, and with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360.
  • Experience writing BIM execution plans and standards and holding outside firms to them.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Experience coordinating designs across engineering disciplines on a live project.
Preferred qualifications
  • Data center or other mission-critical facility experience.
  • Dynamo, Revit API or Python scripting for model automation.
  • Experience producing as-built models and handing them to an operations team or into a DCIM, CMMS or digital twin platform.
  • Familiarity with ISO 19650 or similar information management standards.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit, or an equivalent certification.
Additional Requirements
  • Willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
  • Must be willing to travel to other LFG locations
  • Office-based
  • Travel between California and Washington sites as needed
