Position: CAD Technician / BIM Modeler (Electrical or Mechanical) for Data Center facilities

We are seeking a skilled BIM Modeler / CAD Technician with a background in Electrical or Mechanical systems to join our MEP BIM team. This role supports the design and documentation of Amazon-owned Data Center facilities, contributing to innovative and mission-critical infrastructure projects.

Location & Contract

Remote out of Seattle, WA or Austin, TX or Northern Virginia

Contract: 12 Months (possibility of extension)

Key job responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will include designing electrical and/or mechanical systems for Data Centers, and utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models. You must be able to work independently with occasional guidance and collaborate with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. Your duties will include:

• Be self-motivated and work within the MEP group as well as with other teams
• Prepare and develop detailed Revit models of Electrical and/or Mechanical building systems
• Develop and publish construction documentation for Electrical/Mechanical designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables
• Update and modify existing models, studies and construction documents as required
• Participate in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations
• Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers

Electrical Focus

• Develop and maintain detailed Revit models for electrical systems including one-lines, switchgear, UPS, panelboards, transformers, lighting and lighting control systems
• Grounding, fire alarm systems, cable trays and pathways for Ethernet and Fiber
• Produce construction documentation and update existing models
• Participate in design coordination and clash detection meetings

Mechanical Focus

• Design and model Mechanical and Plumbing systems for Data Centers
• Create and maintain BIM models using Revit
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, consultants, and contractors

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of design/engineering experience in Electrical Building systems or Mechanical Plumbing on mission-critical facilities
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Revit for BIM modeling and construction documentation
• Working knowledge of MEP codes and safety regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience directly related to Data Center design and construction
• Experience with developing Revit Family content
• Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Dynamo, RF Tools, CTC Tools and Procore
