Job summary

Capital Electric Construction Company is seeking a BIM/VDC professional to draw and coordinate a broad range of electrical design tasks on both new and existing construction projects. You will setup Revit views/sheets for field installation and annotate shop drawings for on-site use.

Ideal candidates will have 1 year of electrical design experience, 3+ years BIM/VDC exposure, and strong knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Trimble.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is required.
• 1 year of experience in electrical design.
• 3+ years of BIM/VDC experience is preferred.
• Job site/field experience is preferred.
• Previous experience in the electrical industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draw/coordinate on a large variety of new and existing construction projects from MEP drawings.
• Setup of Revit views and sheets for field installation.
• Annotate and dimension shop drawings for field installation.
• Utilize Bluebeam Revu to markup PDF drawings and communicate with team members.
• Prepare copies and sets of documents for transmittal to other parties.
• Download drawings from project sites and verify accuracy before proceeding.
• Typically perform 3D modeling of electrical systems and develop design drawings.
• Read and interpret design and construction documents; use BIM to resolve issues with the field team.
• Coordinate BIM drawings and prepare field/pre-fab drawings, reports, and schedules.
• Maintain project files and increase proficiency in system operation.

Job Summary

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is required.
• 1 year of experience in electrical design.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Thorough understanding of electrical systems.
• General working knowledge of common computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Must have a thorough working knowledge of construction software applications, including Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, AutoCad, Bluebeam Revu, and Trimble.
• Must have a thorough understanding of Autodesk Revit, including the ability to create Revit worksheets, manipulate Revit families, and perform similar Revit functions.
• Must be fluent in the 2D and 3D space and be able to read 2D plans and coordinate in 3D with other trades.
• Attention to detail and the ability to execute on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously, changing priorities as necessary.
• Must be a team player and possess the ability to share valuable information with team members to increase department expertise.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Download drawings and information from the Web, SharePoint, or other project websites (BIM 360, etc.).
• Verify accuracy of work before sending on to next steps.
• Typically drawing/coordination work includes 3D modeling of all electrical systems and developing design drawings.
• Ability to read, analyze, understand, and interpret design and construction documents.
• Utilize BIM to increase the team’s understanding of problems and solutions and assist the construction and field team in solving issues throughout the project.
• BIM coordination and preparation of field and pre-fab drawings, reports, and schedules.
• Maintain project files.
• Develop increased proficiency in system operation with a resulting increase in productivity and learn how to use all software options.
• Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
