Job summary

Power Design Inc. is seeking an AI Innovation Engineer - BIM in St. Petersburg, FL to lead the 4+1 AI Strategy. You will develop AI solutions for BIM and VDC workflows, collaborate with BIM/VDC and field teams, and evaluate new AI tools for practical, production-ready results.

You will contribute by building agents, retrieval systems and automation, while ensuring strong documentation and cross-team knowledge sharing across projects.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of software or data engineering experience, with 1-3 years of hands-on AI/LLM work.
• Hands-on AI engineering: LLM applications, retrieval, agents, prompt and tool design, evaluation.
• Exposure to BIM technology in construction, AEC or MEP.
• Exposure to Python, APIs, data handling, version control, production discipline.
• Familiarity with BIM data standards and formats (IFC, COBie) or with linking model data to estimating, scheduling or fabrication systems.
• Background in MEP design, VDC coordination, or construction project delivery.
• Demonstrate and uphold Power Design's core values of integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation, and growth.

Responsibilities

• Create AI solutions the business uses: agents, skills, retrieval, documentation and automation. Some you build directly; some you shape with partners and vendors.
• Apply AI to BIM and VDC workflows, e.g., automating model checks and clash review and extracting/structuring model data.
• Collaborate with BIM/VDC, preconstruction and field teams to turn hard problems into practical AI solutions.
• Evaluate and integrate modern AI tooling; track new capabilities in BIM/construction platforms; run trials and adopt proven tools.
• Enable others: set and share best practices, review work, and coach division-embedded people creating their own AI solutions.
